Indication

  1. Malignancy: Head and neck cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, small cell lung cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, esophageal cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, gastric cancer, bladder cancer, rectal cancer, cervical cancer, uterine cancer, endometrical cancer, prostate cancer, diffuse large B cell lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma

  2. Non-malignancy: trigeminal neuralgia, arteriovenous malformation, pituitary tumor, meningioma, acoustic neuroma

  1. Featured medical service: stereotactic radiosurgery and professional CyberKnife staff.

  2. There were about 160 patients treated in our CyberKnife center every year. Indication for treatment included several benign intracranial neoplasm (eg. meningioma, acoustic neuroma, arteriovenous malformation, pituitary tumor, trigeminal neuralgia), hepatic tumors (eg. hepatocellular carcinoma, metastatic hepatic tumor), and prostate cancer.

  3. Stereotactic radiosurgery provides patients another choice for adequate control rate of disease without risk of compilcation of surgical intervention.

  1. In Feb 2006, we installed our first linear accelerator with the capacity of executing Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) in order to increase the control rate of tumor and decrease the complication of the normal tissue.

  2. In May 2008, the linear accelerator Varian Clinac iX, which can perform Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (RapidArc), was adopted. Imaged-Guide Radiation Therapy (IGRT) and Real-time Posotion Management (RPM) were also equipped. Both could improve the accuracy of treatment and reduce the complication.

  3. In Oct 2008, CyberKnife was introduced for stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), which delivered intense energy with highest precision to the tumor while maximally sparing the surrounding healthy tissue.

  4. Since Jul 2010, we provided Active breathing coordinator (ABC), which allowed clinicians to pause a patients breathing at a precisely indicated tidal volume and coordinate delivery with this pause.

  5. In Feb 2012, TomoTherapy, featuring the combination of linear accelerator and CT for precise positioning and large-field treatment, was initiated to provide accuracy and high dose gradient treatment.
