Staffed with a director, a head nurse, a deputy head nurse, 57 registered nurses, and 9 nurse assistants, the Outpatient Department sees approximately 5,000 patients per day and 115,000 patients per month by 170 doctors with 14 specialties. Recognition of quality care by the patients we serve pushes us to continue to improve services and provide the best possible care.

 

I. Introduction

The Outpatient, located on the second floor of the Medical Building I, is a functional and efficient facility offering services in internal medicine, surgery, women and children, and family medicine. There are 69 clinics providing services in 31 specialties. For the continuity of care, we have special rooms for diabetes education, chronic kidney disease education, prenatal education, tuberculosis education and nutritional counseling. The clinics are open in the evening to ensure that our services are more accessible to patients.

Weekdays: 9am to 12 noon; 2pm to 5 pm; 6pm to 9pm.

Saturdays and holidays: 9am to 12 noon

1. Accessibility

  • The Outpatient Department is located on the second floor with examination rooms, lab, outpatient operating rooms, Cashier, and inpatient service center. It is conveniently accessible to the major patient service area on the first floor, where provides Cashier, inpatient, radiology, pharmacy and infusion services.

  • The Outpatient Information Desk, staffed with nurses, provides clinic information, advice, and health education services.

  • We have a hotline providing information services on home care and outpatient-related assistance.

  • Health promotion/disease prevention, medical information and knowledge, and government policy updates are posted on the bulletin board in the outpatient waiting area.

  • Our outpatient volunteers provide practical assistance to patients and help them get to their destination.

  • Clear signs, maps, and directories in the Outpatients help patients find their way.

2. Safety:

  • Focuses of our patient-centered care approach include:

  • Implementation of Patient Identification Measures to ensure the treatment and care are delivered to the right patients.

  • Clinic nurses visually identify patients at high risk for falls and provide wheelchair and fall prevention services.

  • There are volunteers staffed at the escalators, elevators, and stairways to remind patients and visitors to use the equipments properly and safely

  • In order to offer patients the best possible treatment in a clean and safe environment, routine disinfection of environmental surfaces and waste classification are carried out.

  • The public area is staffed with cleaning personnel to ensure a safe and clean environment for our patients and visitors.

  • Patients with fever receive special care including timely measurement of body temperature, priority appointment, urgent outpatient attendances, and provision of surgical masks.

  • The security regularly patrols to keep patients, visitors, and staff safe in the hospital building.

3. Completeness

  • Health educational sessions on various health topics and disease awareness are conducted by nurses periodically.

  • Nurse specialists in diabetes, Obstetrics, asthma, and chronic kidney disease are available to provide healthcare education and follow-up care.

  • Each clinic has its nurse who provides individualized care to patients.

  • Health education and informational pamphlets are places on the racks for patients and visitors to take free of charge.

  • Informational and educational videos about patient safety, disease prevention, health education, and government policy updates are shown regularly in the waiting areas.

  • The infusion nurses assist patients with IV catheter replacement and provide home care education.

4. Involvement

  • Prior to all examinations and surgeries, the doctor explains procedures to patients and families and gets the consent.

  • Patients and families are highly involved in treatment plans and decisions.

  • We regularly offer free clinics for the community and cancer screening services for an early detection of cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, and breast cancer.

  • The Stop Smoking Clinic is offered for free.

5. Patient Centeredness

  • Integration of care, which includes participation of nutritionists, rehabilitation therapists, palliative care nurses, diabetes nurses, wound care nurses, oral health nurses and social workers, ensures that services are delivered effectively and efficiently.

  • Only one patient is seen in the clinic at a time.

  • Schedule and announcements of teaching sessions in the outpatient clinics are posted outside clinics and on the hospital appointment calendar to honor patients' right.

  • During Ob/Gyn visits, when a patient may need to be partially dressed or exposed, we offer gowns to maintain the patient’s dignity.

6. Continuity of Care

  • We are engaged in breastfeeding promotion and have been an accredited Breastfeeding Friendly Hospital.

  • There is a clean and private room in the Ob/Gyn clinic area for breastfeeding and pumping breast milk.

  • Educational programs and courses for moms-to-be, such as exercise, relaxation, babycare and feeding, are offered on a regular basis. .

  • Mom Ambassadors volunteer in the Ob/Gyn outpatient to provide information and share experiences about breastfeeding, labor and delivery, and newborn care.

 

We support and encourage new moms to breastfeed their babies by setting up a 24-hour breastfeeding hotline to provide breastfeeding education, information, advice and answer questions and following their breastfeeding status for 6 months after discharge.
