奇美醫院胸腔外科除臨床服務與教學，亦積極投入臨床醫材的 專利研發 ，期許對推進醫療技術有更進一步的貢獻。
目前成果，除了產出多篇各國專利，亦因為機器人手術的專長，與上銀科技合作，目前蘇英傑醫師獲聘為上銀科技的研發顧問，與業界攜手發展尖端醫材。
