Taiwan sees around 3,000 deaths annually due to traffic accidents, ranking as the 8th leading cause of death. Chi Mei Medical Center, located in Yongkang District, Tainan, is a well-experienced medical facility in handling trauma cases. Every day, it receives numerous trauma patients who may have been injured in traffic accidents, industrial mishaps, or sports incidents. Chi Mei's trauma department is renowned for its diverse expertise in handling various types of injuries, which has become one of its standout features.

When patients arrive at Chi Mei, they receive immediate support from a rapid emergency response system. After emergency physicians in the ER handle critical cases, trauma specialists swiftly take over for further treatment and care, ensuring patients receive timely emergency interventions to alleviate pain and minimize damage.

Here, an integrated treatment team serves as the backbone for trauma patients. Comprising professionals from surgical, orthopedic, neurosurgical, and plastic surgery specialties, this team collaborates to offer optimal treatment plans, expediting the healing process and enhancing treatment outcomes.

In Chi Mei's trauma department, innovation and research have always been focal points. Healthcare professionals continuously explore new treatment methods and technologies to improve patients' quality of life and treatment effectiveness. This commitment to advancement has made Chi Mei's trauma department the preferred healthcare institution for trauma patients in the Tainan area, earning widespread praise and trust.

Currently, the trauma department has three full-time physicians, meeting the requirements outlined in the "Emergency Medical Capability Grading Assessment" regulations. Additionally, there are eighteen adjunct attending physicians with expertise spanning various surgical subspecialties and orthopedics. They provide acute emergency care across subspecialties for patients with multiple traumas, as well as reconstruction therapy during the recovery phase and follow-up treatment post-discharge.
